TRAINING NEWS
September is back to school time. For Team Spartan and the DS Arms Law Enforcement Training Division, every day is back to school! Last month was no different as we presented our Rapid Deployment Pistol Operator course in Provo, Utah, Defensive Duty Knife Instructor Course in Grand Island, Nebraska and our Officer Down! Disabled Officer Shooting Drills course and Introduction to the AR-15 / M-4 Rifle course in Harvey, Illinois.

Beautiful mountains and scenic views surround the Utah County Sheriff's Range, and the weather was perfect again this year as we presented our Rapid Deployment Pistol Operator course in Provo, Utah at Action Target's - Law Enforcement Training Camp.

Team Spartan defensive tactics instructors presented the Defensive Duty Knife Instructor Course at the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center (NLETC) in Grand Island, Nebraska last month. The class was funded by a state grant, providing an opportunity for defensive tactics instructors from across Nebraska to attend this excellent training program. A very special thank you goes to Mark Stephenson for hosting our course at the NLETC and we look forward to presenting classes there again in 2009!

We finished September up with our last Introduction to the AR-15 / M-4 Rifle class for 2008 in Harvey, Illinois. If you're looking for an excellent basics class on the AR-15 / M-4 rifle, this class is for you. If you missed the opportunity to attend it this year, well be offering it again in 2009!

KNOB CREEK MACHINE GUN SHOOT
The next Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot is scheduled for October 10, 11 and 12, 2008 at the Knob Creek Gun Range in Westpoint, Kentucky. DS Arms and the DS Arms Law Enforcement Training Division will be on site again this year with a variety of rifles and machine guns on display at our vendor booth. INSTRUCTOR STAFF DEVELOPMENTS
To work on staff as an instructor with Team Spartan, we require that all of our instructors maintain the ability to perform on demand, all drills and courses of fire that we ask our students to perform. To maintain this level of performance, our instructors continuously attend training programs and instructor training conferences with other agencies and organizations to stay razor sharp! Team Spartan staff instructors Vince Jamison, James Washington and Don Szczesny did an outstanding job last month presenting the Advanced Pistol 2: Rapid Deployment Pistol Operator course at the Action Target Law Enforcement Training Camp in Provo, Utah. You guys rocked!
Team Spartan would also like to recognize staff instructor Vince Jamison for his commitment to serve and protect while off duty in Provo, Utah last month. On our way back home from presenting at the LETC, while stopped for breakfast, Vince on-viewed a deranged psychopath stabbing a citizen with a pair of scissors in the restaurant parking lot. Vince immediately intervened and ordered the assailant to stop. When the assailant failed to comply, Vince fired his duty weapon twice, striking the assailant both times, ending his deadly actions. Vince held the offender at gunpoint until local police arrived and placed the offender into custody. Vince's actions received national media recognition and he is being heralded as a true hero. From all of us here at Team Spartan, thanks for going beyond the call of duty. You represent the very soul of how we live and breathe as instructors. You are a true warrior and warrior trainer. Thank you for your commitment to excellence as a police officer and trainer!
