This comprehensive 2-day firearms training course introduces the student to the AR-15 / M-4 rifle. During this firearms training course, students will learn about one of the most popular weapon systems that law enforcement agencies across the country are authorizing for duty & patrol deployment.
Students will become familiarized with the AR-15 / M-4 rifle and will learn the basic gun-handling skills that are necessary to safely operate and maintain this weapon system as well as use and application for personal defense.
Students will also learn about nomenclature, disassembly / reassembly, mechanical operation, care & cleaning, preventive maintenance, zeroing iron sights, shooting positions and much more.
DS Arms will provide students with ZM4 5.56 rifles, magazines, slings and rifle accessories for this firearms training course upon request. Students have the option to use their agency issued or personally owned weapons.
The 2-day Basic Patrol Rifle Course - or firearms training course of equivalent level - is a pre-requisite to attend the Rapid Deployment Patrol Rifle course and 2-day Advanced Tactical Rifle course.

Function checking the AR-15 / M-4 rifle.

Fundamentals of shooting a rifle.

Sling use and carry techniques.

Understanding projectile trajectory.

Reloading techniques.

Malfunction clearance techniques.

Presentation from the low ready / hunt position.

Presentation from high ready / combat ready.

Delivering controlled pairs and accelerated pairs.

Threat assessment and area scanning.

Shooting positions - standing, squatting, kneeling, sitting and prone.

Basic rifle standard drill evaluation.

Basic rifle marksmanship qualification course.

Preventive maintenance and cleaning.

Awareness of exposure to toxic metals and solvents.

Student requirements: Note pad and pen, firearms training equipment, eye protection, ear protection, baseball type cap,
AR-15 or M-4 type rifle with iron sights, sling and at least 2 magazines, elbow pads, knee pads and gun cleaning kit.
(Body armor is optional unless it is required by your agency during firearms training)
Recommended equipment: Rifle magazine carriers, rain gear, sunscreen, insect repellent, hydration system, water and clothing suitable for contact with the ground.
Ammunition requirements: 500 rounds of 5.56 rifle ammunition (Ammunition is available for purchase upon request)
Ammunition must be new manufacture (Federal, Remington, Winchester, etc.)
Absolutely no reloaded ammunition!
