DISABLED OFFICER SHOOTING TECHNIQUES

This intense 1-day training course introduces the student to unorthodox shooting positions and techniques. The techniques presented in this course have been established from real world situations that law enforcement officers have experienced during violent encounters with offenders. With a startling increase in violent assaults on law enforcement officers, it is not uncommon for officers to be knocked to the ground or injured while they are trying to gain control of a violent offender or execute an arrest. This course will provide invaluable information to the student with techniques on how to fight with a handgun from various positions when injured, knocked to the ground or shooting from the seated position of a patrol vehicle.

The following topics will be covered:

Firearms safety.
Principals of personal defense.
Mental conditioning and combat mindset.
Review of shooting fundamentals.
Methodology of shooting the semi-automatic pistol.
Combat gun-handling skills.
One hand presentation from ready pistol.
One hand presentation from the holster.
Transitioning from strong hand to support hand.
Reloading the semi-automatic pistol with one hand.
Clearing malfunctions and stoppages with one hand.
Engaging threats using the strong hand only.
Engaging threats using the support hand only.
Moving off the line of force.
Threat assessment and area scanning.
Engaging threats from the supine position.
Engaging threats while laying on the strong side.
Engaging threats while laying on the support side.
Engaging threats from the prone position.
Engaging threats while rolling off the line of force.
Rolling to cover and use of cover from the prone position.
Recovering from prone and supine positions to standing.
Engaging threats from the seated position.
Use of the flash sight picture vs. perfect sight alignment.
Weapon retention issues.

Course duration: 1 day (8 hours)

Course tuition: $125.00

Course student limit: 20

Student requirements: Eye protection, ear protection, baseball type cap, duty belt with holster and magazine carriers, duty pistol with at least 3 hi-capacity magazines or 5 single stack magazines, knee pads, elbow pads and body armor.
(Body armor is required if it is part of your duty gear)

Recommended equipment: Rain gear, sunscreen, insect repellent, hydration system, water and clothing suitable for contact with the ground and ground fighting.

Ammunition requirements: 500 rounds (minimum)

(Ammunition is available for purchase upon request.)
