DS Arms FAL SA58 RIFLE INSTRUCTOR

Course # SAIN.0550.1

 

This challenging 5-day instructor certification course focuses on development of instructor skills in the use and application of the

DS Arms FAL SA58 rifle. Students will learn about methods of instruction, lesson plan development, establishing standards drills, qualification course development, running live-fire courses of fire and how to apply these techniques in classroom and live-fire presentations. Students will be required to make an evaluated classroom presentation and live-fire range presentation using these techniques for instructor certification. Upon completion of this course the student will possess the skills and knowledge necessary to instruct, evaluate, test and certify qualified operators in the safe use and deployment of the DS Arms FAL SA58 rifle. Students that successfully pass the instructor standards drills, qualification course, presentation evaluations and written test are eligible to receive instructor certification.

 

DS Arms will provide all students with SA58 rifles, magazines, slings and rifle accessories for this class. Students have the option to use their agency issued or personally owned weapons.

Select fire weapons are allowed.

  • Firearms safety.
  • Methods of instruction and lesson plan development.
  • Nomenclature of the SA58 rifle.
  • Disassembly and re-assembly of the SA58 rifle.
  • Preventive maintenance and cleaning of the SA58 rifle.
  • Function checking the SA58 rifle.
  • Mechanical operation of the SA58 rifle.
  • Gas regulator adjustment.
  • Use of conventional and tactical sling systems.
  • Sight adjustment and zeroing.
  • Fundamentals of shooting the SA58 rifle.
  • Presenting from low ready, high ready and indoor ready positions.
  • Loading, unloading and reloading the SA58 rifle.
  • Operating the SA58 rifle.
  • Malfunction clearance techniques.
  • Transition to back-up weapon system.
  • Cover drills.
  • Disabled shooter positions.
  • Movement off the line of force.
  • Threat assessment and area scanning.
  • Multiple target drills and engaging multiple threats.
  • Delivering controlled pairs and accelerated pairs.
  • Drugged assailant and body armor defeating drills.
  • Shooting positions - standing, squatting, kneeling and prone.
  • Use of cover while moving and shooting.
  • Shooting during low-light conditions.
  • Shooting on the move.
  • Static turns and pivots.
  • Close Quarter Battle (CQB) techniques.
  • Combined skills individual shoot-offs. 
  • Instructor standards drills.
  • Instructor qualification course.
  • Written examination.
  • Instructor oral presentations.
  • Instructor live-fire range presentations.  

Course duration: 5 days (44 hours)

Course tuition: $ 625.00

 

Course student limit: 20

Student requirements: Note pad and pen, eye protection, ear protection, baseball type cap, duty belt with holster and magazine carriers, duty pistol with at least 2 magazines, SA58 rifle with at least 2 magazines, sling, flashlight, knee pads, elbow pads, gun cleaning kit and body armor.

(Body armor is required if it is part of your duty gear)


Recommended equipment: Rifle magazine carriers, rain gear, sunscreen, insect repellent, hydration system, water, weapon-mounted flashlight and clothing suitable for contact with the ground.

 

Ammunition requirements: 1200 rounds of .308 rifle ammunition and 100 rounds of handgun ammunition. (minimum) 

(Ammunition is available for purchase upon request)

 

Ammunition must be new manufacture (Federal, Remington, Winchester, etc.)

No import or military surplus ammunition allowed. 

Absolutely no reloaded ammunition!
